Alexandra Valdez is a proud mother, Bostonian, community advocate, and first-generation Latina-Dominican whose journey reflects the resilience and vibrancy of Boston’s immigrant communities. Born in La Vega, Dominican Republic, Alexandra immigrated to Boston as a young child, carrying with her the hopes and dreams of her family. From learning to navigate a new culture to finding her voice as a community leader, Alexandra has spent her life breaking barriers and fighting for equity.

Boston welcomed Alexandra’s family with opportunities, but also revealed the systemic challenges faced by many immigrant families. Inspired by her own experiences, she has dedicated her career to building a city where everyone—regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or immigration status—can thrive.
