A Voice for Every Neighborhood

As a mother, daughter and someone deeply invested in Boston, Alexandra Valdez believes our city should be a place where every family and individual can afford to live, flourish and prosper. Alex's 10 years of experience at City Hall, fighting for working families, small businesses and underrepresented communities, has prepared her to bring bold, honest leadership to the Boston City Council.

With your support, we can build a Boston that truly works for everyone.

Meet Alexandra

Alexandra Valdez is a proud mother, Bostonian and community advocate whose journey reflects the resilience and vibrancy of Boston’s immigrant communities. Born in La Vega, Dominican Republic, Alexandra immigrated to Boston as a young child, carrying with her the hopes and dreams of her family. From learning to navigate a new culture to finding her voice as a community leader, Alexandra has spent her life breaking barriers and fighting for equity.

Alexandra's extensive career and dedication to public service began 10 years ago, working for former Jamaica Plain City Councilor Matt O'Malley. Since then, she has served as Jamaica Plain's Neighborhood Coordinator, citywide Latino Liaison, Director of the Economic Mobility Lab, and Executive Director of the Women's Advancement Department. Currently, Alex has the privilege of serving as the Executive Director of Boston's Cultural Affairs Department, continuing her commitment to making Boston a more vibrate, inclusive and equitable city.

Boston welcomed Alexandra’s family with opportunities, but also revealed the systemic challenges faced by many immigrant families. Inspired by her own experiences, she has decided to run for Boston City Council to ensure Boston continues to be a beacon of opportunity for all.

"I am passionate about creating inclusive spaces where every resident feels a sense of belonging. I look forward to working collaboratively with our communities to make Boston a vibrant and culturally rich city for all."
